How a Kooky Lady Got Her Craft Back
It all began when I begged mom and dad to buy me my very own sewing machine in grade 7. I made a denim hobo bag in Home Ec. class embroidered with a large name initial. After that project and others, the bug had bit me. Since then I've studied Interior design, Graphic design, Culinary arts and have worked at a bunch of very boring and unsatisfactory jobs. But sewing was something I very much enjoyed and making things was creative and fun.
After a long time of not sewing, maybe 8 yrs, I made myself a tote bag for the beach , adding some decorative embellishments, followed by another bag - a handbag for everyday but adding some drapery trim . Next thing I knew, I was asked to make a bag for this person and that person and I realized ..... hmmmmm, this could be the start of something great. A new beginning for a creative person without a clear future. "Eureka!!". I decided to give it a go and now 12 years later I've made oh, I don't know how many bags (ALOT!) and I absolutely love doing this. I hope this reflects in my work - my love of 'pretty things' - gorgeous, sumptuous fabrics, brilliant colors, fun and unique embellishments such as vintage buttons, beads, sequins, rhinestones and other neat stuff that thrill me to no end. I'm sure I'll be doing this for a while longer and I hope you'll enjoy wearing my bags as much as I do making them. And the name Kooky? I've been told more than a few times that I'm a kooky girl so it seemed only perfect to use the name for my business. After all, the bags reflect my kooky nature.
Owner, Designer, I Fly Solo In My Craft Room.
I sew everyday with my beagle Lulu Belle and cat Archie by my side. I studied Design Arts at college, and also studied stained glass. I am a multi-crafter making a variety of crafts, from jewelry to decoupage, bags and pillows, and lavender sachets
Also, I am a big believer in up cycling/recycling and therefore will reuse envelopes that have been already used, although they will be sufficient for mailing, they may be a bit rough around the edges and maybe marked up a little, but bear in mind that your item will be prettily wrapped in colorful tissue to make up for it.
I live in a SMOKE FREE HOUSEHOLD, so bonus***
