Looliemom Fiber Arts
I come from a long line of knitters... my mother, both grandmothers, and from what I know all my great grandmothers. Then I came out left handed. I was an artist, and got my Associate's degree in Visual Arts; I could draw, paint, sculpt, make pretty quilts... but I couldn't knit. I came to yarn and fiber late, but it "fit". I was 32 when I really learned and got into knitting. I was pregnant with my last baby and I just felt like I'd be the worst mother if I couldn't knit at least something for my baby. Spinning yarn came about a year later, and shortly after that a friend taught me how to dye wool.
I've come to love the dyeing process and the color variations.
The name "Looliemom" came from my younger daughter... that last baby that started my adventure in yarn and fiber. After 2 other children I got the priveledge of being a stay at home mom. Well, this baby was a "Lulu". If she could get into it, she did; if she could jump off of it, she did; if she could try it... she did. In describing her... she was a "Loolie". That became one of her many nick-names, and I was then "Looliemom".
Thanks so much.
Around the web
I came to fiber arts through a fine arts education. I've been here on Etsy for 7 years now and I'm recently returning from having my own website. I'm a stay at home, homeschooling mom, and my fiber art allows me to be there for my family.
