Tinker Tailor started with Lea, I began creating and selling from my narrowboat in about 2002 where I made jewellery and gifts and incences, and folks would clamber aboard to peruse my wares.
A few years later me and Luke moved into our truck and started travelling the uk festivals selling my handmade clothes and accessories and our jewellery and crystals. When we settled in the Welsh hills we started to work mostly with felting wool, and I still also work with crochet, and stitching eco clothing from recycled materials, we sell from our etsy shop here and do some festivals in summertime, and travel in the winter.
Our daughter Elfie joined us in 2012 and she has always very much been part of our team, she helps with lots of jobs in the woolly workshop and also creates her own wild textile creations for her own little shop, she has been sewing and making beaded creations since she was 9 months old.
We also run our beautiful little space in Wales as an eco retreat centre, offering organic b&b, glamping, Vegetarian, vegan and raw foods, workshops and retreats of wild creative textiles, chakra balancing and belly dance for women's health, healthy eating, natural living, relaxation, and fun Goddess retreats for women's well being.
Our Tinker Tailor artisan dreads shop and open studio gallery with recycled clothing, accessories, jewellery and gifts (all made here by us) is open to the public and available for 'dreadlock holidays' :-)
Owner, Creator, Curator
Luke felts dreads, dabbles in designing, and sorts out the orders, and keeps everything organised here in our woolly welsh workshop :-)
Creator, Designer, Assistant
Elfie is our four year old daughter. She makes her own range of textile art brooches, silver crystal pendants, textile necklaces, and bracelets, her creations can now be purchased in our shop, each one is one of a kind and designed and made by Elfie.
Owner, Creator, Marketer
I mostly make dreads and dreadlock accessories, I also crochet the one of a kind accessories, make recycled clothing, and work with crystal to create one of a kind jewellery.
We are passionate about taking care of our earth and love to incorporate lots of recycled fiber and fabrics into our work.
We love the amazing work of Survival International supporting Tribal People in their fight to keep their lands and love to hold creative tribes gatherings to support them.
My (Lea) inspiration resides mostly in the wild and rugged countryside of Wales where I live, and the British Isles, especially the forests and woodlands, folklore, and wildlife.
I am also so very inspired by cultures across our planet, Mongolian people, their felted yurts and clothing, their nomadic way of life and the beautiful yaks they herd. The hustle and bustle and bright colours of India. The wild vast lands of Alaska, Canada and Siberia, the tribes of the south american rainforest, the beautiful textiles of Panama, Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, Morocco, and Tibet.

Additional policies and FAQs
*When will l receive my order?
If you are in the UK we generally send our parcels 2nd class if you've had a shipping notice it should take 2-3 working days, if it hasn't arrived within a week
If we have sent you a notification of shipping and you are an international customer we use standard airmail (unless you've upgraded)
Delivery to Europe in 3 to 5 working days
Delivery to the rest of the world in 5 to 7 working days
We find that it some packages can take up to 30 days to be delivered, this doesn't happen very often thankfully! We have to allow 30 days for Royal Mail to officially say the parcel is lost so please be patient and let me know after 30 days of shipping if it still hasn't arrived.
*Can I get my my dreads wet? & Are they washable?
Yes they're fully washable, I recommend washing them in an eco friendly shampoo (without the harsh foaming agents) In the UK we use Urtekram brand.
Do make sure that you thoroughly rinse them as any soap suds left in the dreads could rot the fibers.
To dry them I wouldn't use a hairdryer but let them dry naturally within 24 hours, by sitting in a warm room.
If they are cared for they can be washed and re-installed as many times as you like.
* Can you offer wholesale
Yes we can, please message us your requirements.
* Can you tell me the exact length? (clip in dreads)
No. This is because each dread is hand made and when we felt them we have no idea of how the wool will shrink during this process, that's why we give approx sizes.
* How do I install your dreads? We are currently making our own videos of how to install the double and single ended dreads but for now here's a couple of good videos on youtube.....
How to install double ended dreads - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ca0ECeC2KJ8
How to install single ended dreads - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mBxlrp-z-dI
*How many dreads do I get? It depends which dreads you are referring to, please check the description on the listing first, it should say on there, if you're still not sure then send us a link to the product you mean in your message.
*Can I get my order by the date I need them?
We will always try our best to get your dreads to you by a certain date and we will say if we don't think it realistic. If you want them for a certain date please let us know asap. Please note though that once we've shipped them we have no control over how long the shipping company will take to deliver them, so please don't get moody with us if they don't arrive with you in time for that festival your going to.
