It all started with a set of buttons...
It all started with a set of buttons that Jeff (my husband) made for fun. With the attention they received, he made another set. Then had requests for more. The requests just kept coming and he just kept making them, and that's how he started making buttons. (I should also add that he became a woodworker because it was the material we happened to have on hand.) I must say, Jeff makes some truly amazing buttons! (I know you think I'm biased since we're married and all, but seriously, they are works of art.)
To make our handmade buttons, Jeff and I pass them back and forth between us, for the different stages. He starts with gorgeous wood, which he seems to attract into our lives like a magnet. After marking and slicing the wood, Jeff sands and polishes them (a long process with spectacular results!). I mark the button holes. Jeff drills them. I organize them in families and tie them on cards, and then photograph them and post them in the shop. They're so unique and I think the high quality really shines through. We adore our buttons. They have a certain magic and when you feel them in your hands, you'll know what we mean.
My very favorite part is seeing our buttons on your creative projects. It's the best. I smile every time I see one of your newest creations. (I should mention that there are three different ways to share your projects with WoolyMossRoots Buttons: on Instagram, on Ravelry, & on Facebook. Links below.)
Our knitting customers requested shawl pins, so Jeff started making those as well. In addition to buttons and shawl pins, you'll find cedar garden & homesteading signs, sustainable wood jewelry, and herbal salves made with organic herbs from our garden. I make a wooly creation for the shop from time to time, and I love knitting and always have a project going on the needles. (And yes, the large majority of my knitting projects include buttons!)
We work from home and when we're not working for our family business, we're busy on our small homestead. We value spending our days together as a family. We love creating with our hands. We spend as much time as we're able to in the garden, always striving to produce more of our own food. When you buy from our shop, you are supporting our dream and we are so very grateful!

In the US, we ship items though USPS Priority Mail almost always, unless otherwise requested. Please give us 3-5 business days to mail your order out. (If it is a made-to-order item it will take longer while we make the item for you.) Priority Mail takes 2-3 days to reach anyone in the United States. (Priority Mail is flat rate shipping, so you can add more items to your order and the weight won't increase the price. Take advantage of this great deal when ordering in our shop and only pay one shipping charge for multiple items!) *Shipping rates have gone up for priority and I know some of you would prefer an alternative shipping method. If that is the case, please contact me about that before you order, thanks!*
